Rember the Quickshop? The banana slicer? The egg cracker? I could go on about all the stupid kitchen gadgets out there! Not only are they a waste of money but they are a waste of space! These pointless products take up prime real estate in your drawers and it’s time to toss them and make room for things you will actually use every day. The best kitchen tools I share are based purely on my own opinion, but again because of marketing, we stray too far away from the basics and make things more difficult! Let’s keep it simple and go back to the basics.

Good Knives and Knife Sharpener
This is single-handedly the best kitchen tool you need. A lot of those annoying kitchen gadgets can be easily replaced by just one decent knife. You don’t need anything fancy or expensive, so in this case, you’ll need a knife sharpener. There are three knives (as pictured) that you should definitely have on hand and one knife that you will be using daily. A chef’s knife. This is your “does-it-all” knife and will (should) be your most used knife, if not, the only knife you use. Stop using a bread knife to cut your tomatoes, Karen! Keeping your chef’s knife sharp is important. The best tip I learned was from Gordon Ramsey and it was to sharpen your knives every time before using them. So I am passing that down to you! Doing this extends the life of your knives.

Quality Non-Stick Pan
Them: “But they don’t stay non-stick that long!”
Me: Because you’re using them wrong!
When you get a new non-stick pan, rule number one is you don’t need to use anything but soap and water to wash it. It’s so non-stick you don’t need a sponge and NEVER ever ever a brush. Using pure oil or butter is what will keep the life of your non-stick in tip-top-shape. Do not use spray oils of any kind either! The chemicals in them break down the coating after time. Also, just to be clear, don’t ever put these in the dishwasher either. Follow this strategy and your non-sticks will last years!

Silicone Utensils
Out with the steel, in with the silicone! These silicone coated utensils will extend the life of all your non-stick pans because they glide across the pan, not scrape across it. Don’t be fooled, because even plastic and wooden utensils will deteriorate your no-stick coating over time. Plus, now you can have all coordinating utensils and if you’re reading my blog, I know that’s something you fantasize about.

Quality Cutting Boards
For everyday use, you will want two types of cutting boards on hand. A plastic one for raw meats or foods that can stain, such as beet, turmeric, etc. Then a wooden board for basically everything else. The reason you want these two is that wood absorbs whatever is on top of it.

Milk Frother
Even though this is technically a milk frother, I don’t think I’ve actually used mine to froth milk. If you use shaker cups and hoard them like I used to and never really had room for them in the first place…this kitchen tool is for you! This thing is perfect for protein shakes, bcaa drinks, matcha latte, creamer to your coffee, the list goes on. To clean it after, just add a drop of soap into a glass of water, turn it on, then rinse and spin with clean water. So simple and takes up sooo much less space than my ugly ten shaker cups!

Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid
This is an attachment that replaces a dehydrator, an air fryer, and turns your instant pot into a mini oven with baking, broiling, and roasting capabilities. Countertop and cabinet space is prime real estate in my kitchen. There’s not much storage space so every square inch counts! The fact I can replace my toaster oven, dehydrator, and the air fryer for just this lid is amazing! Plus, the amount of energy this saves as opposed to using the conventional oven is a big plus too.
